Mark H. Nelson, CPA
Mark has been in the taxation field since 1986 and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1987. Mark has expertise in a variety of solutions including tax planning, tax preparation, and general business consulting. He has held management level positions in the tax departments of Arthur Andersen, LLP and AT&T, as well as, at the local public accounting firm level. Due to his extensive and varied experience, Mark is able to address and resolve complex tax scenarios and objectives.
In addition to Federal income and Texas state taxes that apply to individuals and businesses, Mark works in several "niche" areas of taxation that are not often found at the local firm level. These areas include international tax, multi-state tax, estate tax and tax controversies (representing clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities).
Mark has a Masters Degree in Taxation from Texas Tech University and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from McNeese State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA), the Texas Society of CPAs and the San Antonio Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs.
In his spare time, Mark enjoys tennis, golf, hunting, fishing and spending time with his wife Susan and their children. He is a member of the USTA (US Tennis Association) and plays in USTA league events. Golf is also a passion but because of the time required he cannot play as much as he would like. His love of hunting and fishing come from his roots in southwest Louisiana where he was born and raised.
Mark and family spend much of their free time at school sporting events and activities. Mark's children enjoy horse riding (western style), tennis, basketball, volleyball. The family also spends a lot of time with relatives in Laredo, Texas.
